Furman-Powers engagement





GILBERTSVILLE – The engagement of Allison Furman of Gilbertsville and Andrew Powers of Boyertown was announced by her parents, Barb and Ed Furman, 40 Bow Lane, Gilbertsville.

Ms. Furman is a 2007 graduate of Boyertown Area High School and a 2011 graduate of Ursinus College with a bachelor of science degree in exercise science. She is an elementary physical education teacher in the Boyertown Area School District.

Her fiancé is the son of Randy and Amy Heisler, Philadelphia Avenue, Boyertown. He is a 2007 graduate of Boyertown Area High School and a 2011 graduate of Gettysburg College with a degree in physics. He is currently a student at Widener University pursuing a degree in civil engineering.

A November 2013 wedding is planned.

Babilon-Kirchner engagement





NORTH COVENTRY – The engagement of Lyndsey J. Babilon and Travis George Kirchner, both of North Coventry, was announced by her parents, Robert and Leatha Babilon, 510 Fancy Hill Road, Boyertown.

Ms. Babilon is a 2009 graduate of Boyertown Area High School and currently attends Bloomsburg University where she is pursuing a degree in social work. She is employed at Bella Vista Golf Course, Gilbertsville.

Her fiancé is the son of Wolfgang and Betty Kirchner, 46 Knoll Circle, Boyertown. He is a 2005 graduate of Boyertown Area High School and a 2009 graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a degree in civil engineering. He is employed at Allan A. Myers, Worcester.

Kurtas-Thompson wedding






LINFIELD – Laura Michelle Kurtas, daughter of James and Kathleen Kurtas of Lower Pottsgrove, became the bride of Christopher Michael Thompson of Glenolden in Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church.

The Rev. Paul Brandt, pastor, officiated.

Organist Gia Padfield and soloist Julie Wickland provided music.

The bride is a 2003 graduate of Pottsgrove High School and a 2008 graduate of West Chester University with a bachelor of science degree in nursing.

The bridegroom, son of Gregory and Pam Thompson, is a 2002 graduate of Interboro High School and a 2007 graduate of West Chester University with a bachelor of science degree in marketing.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by her sister, Katherine Kurtas, maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kerri Owsiany, Heather Thompson, Carly Bauer, Angela Flear, Justine Eckman, Lauren Caseley, Jessica Laverty and Lisa Leister.

Gregory Thompson, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Dylan Thompson, brother of the bridegroom; Daniel Kurtas, brother of the bride; James Sheridan, Sean Sheridan, Michael O’Donnell, Ron Scrafano and Jim Caruso.

Readers were Lauren Sheridan, Christina Sheridan and Janice Brasher.

A reception was held at The Desmond, Malvern.

Fell-Kulp wedding






LANCASTER – Lauren Casey Fell, daughter of Christopher and Karen Fell, 1085 Manatawny Road, Boyertown, became the bride of Drew Steven Kulp of Douglassville.

Pastor Bruce Borgard of Morning Star Fellowship officiated.

The bride is a 2004 graduate of Boyertown Area High School and a 2008 graduate of LaSalle University with a bachelor of arts degree in communication. She is a marketing administrator at EnerSys, Inc., Bern Township.

The bridegroom, son of Joseph Kulp of Pottstown and Jean Szegedy of Phoenixville, is a 2004 graduate of Boyertown Area High School. He is an equipment operator with Highway Materials, Inc., Blue Bell.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride’s honor attendant was Jessica Denkowski. Bridesmaids were Whitney Gallagher, Morgan Fell, sister of the bride, Megan Sheeler, Michael Lynn Turtle and Karisa Ludwig.

Jason Kriebel served as best man. Ushers were Mike Fretz, Max Kulp and Mason Kulp, brothers of the bridegroom, Nick DeMatteo and Brian Friel.

Reader was Jennifer Fell.

After a reception at Riverdale Manor, Lancaster, the newlyweds left on a wedding trip to Excellance Riviera, Cancun, Mexico.

Baro-Schwalm wedding





POTTSTOWN – Caitlin Gabrielle Baro, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David L. Baro, 159 Quarry Road, Douglassville, became the bride of Brandon James Schwalm of Lebanon in Christ Episcopal Church, 316 E. High St.

The Rev. Terrance I. Highland officiated.

Organist Shirley Dietz and clarinetist Jennifer Brickel provided music.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of Pottsgrove High School and a 2010 graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a bachelor of science degree in business. She is a branch manager at Enterprise Holding, Inc., Pottsville.

The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Schwalm of Williamstown, is a 2007 graduate of Williamstown High School and a 2011 graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a bachelor of science degree in business. He is a management assistant at Enterprise Holding, Inc., Harrisburg.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride was attended by her sister, Chloe Baro, maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Hillary Bupp, sister of the bridegroom, Danielle Boyer, Christine Poletti and Rebecca Moseley. Abigail Fretz, cousin of the bride, and Delia Bupp, niece of the bridegroom, were flower girls.

Jeremy Snyder, uncle of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Anthony Bupp, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, Mark Seidel, Johnathan Nalls and Colin McNoldy. Ringbearers were Jackson Fretz, cousin of the bride, and Finley Bupp, nephew of the bridegroom.

Sarah Snyder, cousin of the bridegroom, and Leah Sibalic served as guest book registrars. Greeters were Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Hinchliffe. Bulletins were distributed by Joshua Little, cousin of the bride. Seed packets were handed out by David Little, cousin of the bride.

After a reception at Stokesay Castle, Reading, the newlyweds left on a wedding trip to St. Lucia. They will reside in Lebanon.
