Murphy-Scherer wedding





Columbia, SC – Elizabeth Wells Murphy, daughter of Elizabeth (Betsy) Breckinridge and Peter Murphy of Columbia, S.C., became the bride of Mason Douglas Scherer of New York in the Lace House at the South Carolina Governor’s Mansion, Columbia, S.C.

The Rev. Kevin M. Roberts of Carolina Wedding VOW, officiated.

Violinist Seth Gilliard provided music.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of Dreher High School, Columbia, S.C. and a 2010 graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism. She is a digital reporter with Good Morning America, ABC News, New York.

The bridegroom, son of Douglas and Cynthia Scherer, 2860 Chestnut Hill Road, Pottstown, is a 2002 graduate of Pottsgrove High School and a 2006 graduate of New York University with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and mass media communications. He is an associate producer of Dateline NBC, NBC News, New York.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Katherine Sarah Harpootlian, Emily Louise Burchwell, Natalie Ann Dobry, sister of the bridegroom, Jennifer Lee Fernandes, Erin Elizabeth Graham, Rawlins Elizabeth Kefalos, Samantha Ann Liss, Lindsay Anne Robben, Christine Terrill Schoem and Madeline Elizabeth Sell, cousin of the bridegroom. Contessa Ann Dobry, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl.

Mitchell Douglass Scherer, brother of the bridegroom was best man. Ushers were Andre-Matias Alfaro, Akash Haresh Bharucha, Jason Edward Dobry, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, Scott Alan Hutt, Andrew Ray Johnson, John Breckinridge Murphy, brother of the bride, Sameer Bipinchandra Patel, Paul Beren South and James Cole Sell, cousin of the bridegroom. Jason Nolan Dobry, godson of the bridegroom, and Wyatt Jason Dobry, nephew of the bridegroom, were ring bearers.

Readers were Christopher Peter Peroni, godfather of the bridegroom, and Kelli Erin Rogers.

The bride wore her maternal grandmother’s wedding shoes and carried her clutch.

After a reception at The Lace House at the South Carolina Governor’s Mansion, the newlyweds left on a wedding trip to Barbados.
