Schodle anniversary

Upper Frederick – Mr. and Mrs. Louis E. Schodle, 429 Fagleysville Road, were honored on their 60th wedding anniversary at a celebration hosted by their children at the Pennsburg Diner.

The Schodles are the parents of two daughters, Karen Schodle of Royersford and Beth Hohberger-McCarty of Warrington.

Mrs. Schodle, the former Nancy J. Grubb, is a homemaker and Avon representative.

Her husband is a retired mechanic specialist and owner of Lou’s Auto Service, Upper Frederick.

They were married on Sept. 3, 1955 in St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Obelisk, by Pastor Elton Angstadt.

The Schodles have one grandchild, Lauren Hohberger.

Rhoads anniversary

POTTSTOWN – John and Gladys Rhoads are celebrating 65 years of marriage.  They are formerly of 37 Edge Hill Road, Boyertown, now residing at Manor Care, Pottstown.

Mr. and Mrs. Rhoads are the parents of six children. They have nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

They were married August 21, 1950.

The couple enjoy playing bingo, watching TV game shows and visits from their family and friends.

Gubanich anniversary

EAST PIKELAND – Mr. and Mrs. R. Lawrence Gubanich, 10 Galicia Drive, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a special trip to Aruba.

The Gubanichs are the parents of three sons, Bradford Gubanich of Spring City, Creighton Gubanich of Linfield, Tyler Gubanich of Limerick, and one daughter, Tenley MacMillan of Royersford.

Mrs. Gubanich, the former Sharon Kocsi, is a bookkeeper with Azzurro, Inc. Phoenixville. She is semi-retired.

Her husband is a course ranger at Turtle Creek Golf Club, Limerick. He is also semi-retired.

They were married on Aug. 7, 1965 at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Phoenixville.

The Gubanichs have four grandchildren.

Kelley Anniversary

NEW HANOVER – Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kelley, 2591 Donald Drive, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

The Kelleys are the parents of two daughters, Susan Hardwick of Fayetteville, N.C., and Anne Jackson of Branford, Conn.

Mrs. Kelley, the former Joan Astheimer, is a 2005 retiree of Perkiomen Valley Food Service.

Her husband retired in 2001 as the owner of Joe Kelley Auto Body, Center Square.

They were married on May 29, 1965 in Grace Lutheran Church, Royersford. The Rev. John Bergstresser officiated.

The Kelleys have four grandchildren.

Patten-Jones engagement

LANSDALE – The engagement of Allison May Patten of Lansdale and Justin Tyler Jones was announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Patten of Gilbertsville.

Ms. Patten is a 2008 graduate of Boyertown Area High School and a 2013 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in accounting. She is a financial analyst with Burlington Coat Factory.

Her fiancé is the son of Dina and David Jones of Bradford, Pa. He is a 2005 graduate of Bradford Area High School. He is a regional sales director with IBM.

An Aug. 28, 2015 wedding is planned in Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Church, Schwenksville.

Murphy-Scherer wedding

Columbia, SC – Elizabeth Wells Murphy, daughter of Elizabeth (Betsy) Breckinridge and Peter Murphy of Columbia, S.C., became the bride of Mason Douglas Scherer of New York in the Lace House at the South Carolina Governor’s Mansion, Columbia, S.C.

The Rev. Kevin M. Roberts of Carolina Wedding VOW, officiated.

Violinist Seth Gilliard provided music.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of Dreher High School, Columbia, S.C. and a 2010 graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism. She is a digital reporter with Good Morning America, ABC News, New York.

The bridegroom, son of Douglas and Cynthia Scherer, 2860 Chestnut Hill Road, Pottstown, is a 2002 graduate of Pottsgrove High School and a 2006 graduate of New York University with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and mass media communications. He is an associate producer of Dateline NBC, NBC News, New York.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Katherine Sarah Harpootlian, Emily Louise Burchwell, Natalie Ann Dobry, sister of the bridegroom, Jennifer Lee Fernandes, Erin Elizabeth Graham, Rawlins Elizabeth Kefalos, Samantha Ann Liss, Lindsay Anne Robben, Christine Terrill Schoem and Madeline Elizabeth Sell, cousin of the bridegroom. Contessa Ann Dobry, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl.

Mitchell Douglass Scherer, brother of the bridegroom was best man. Ushers were Andre-Matias Alfaro, Akash Haresh Bharucha, Jason Edward Dobry, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, Scott Alan Hutt, Andrew Ray Johnson, John Breckinridge Murphy, brother of the bride, Sameer Bipinchandra Patel, Paul Beren South and James Cole Sell, cousin of the bridegroom. Jason Nolan Dobry, godson of the bridegroom, and Wyatt Jason Dobry, nephew of the bridegroom, were ring bearers.

Readers were Christopher Peter Peroni, godfather of the bridegroom, and Kelli Erin Rogers.

The bride wore her maternal grandmother’s wedding shoes and carried her clutch.

After a reception at The Lace House at the South Carolina Governor’s Mansion, the newlyweds left on a wedding trip to Barbados.
