LOWER POTTSGROVE – Dr. and Mrs. Richard P. Whittaker will be celebrating their 50^th wedding anniversary with a 50K bike ride on the Schuylkill River Trail and a party at their home hosted by their friends and family. In lieu of gifts, the Whittakers requested donations be made to the Helen and Robert Whittaker Memorial Park, c/o Chester County Community foundation.

The Whittakers are the parents of two sons, Keith Whittaker of New Canaan, Conn.; Dr. Scott Whittaker of Arlington, Va.; and two daughters, Laura Calizzi of The Woodlands, Texas; and Susan Glynn of Dublin, Ireland.

Mrs. Whittaker, the former Margaret Michael, is a 2002 retiree of Penn State University Berks where she was an assistant professor.

Her husband is an orthopedic surgeon, semi-retired, with Orthopedic Specialists of Pottstown.

They were married on June 27, 1964 in Drexel Hill.

The Whittakers have 11 grandchildren.
